Creo Farm
The Adolescent Program at
About Creo School
Creo was founded with the vision of building a focused and creative environment for children according to the principles of an authentic AMI Montessori education. Only six years after opening its doors, Creo quickly grew to have a full program serving infants through children 12 years of age.
In August 2020, Creo will continue its growth by establishing a middle school program that will serve adolescents, ages 12-15. Planning and preparation for an upper school program will begin, as well, and will be introduced in August 2022.
To support the new adolescent community, Creo purchased a farm on Lindsay Road in Gilbert AZ. The farm is a beautifully landscaped and gated 5-acre property with a 5,000 square-foot Spanish colonial-style home in the middle of the property with a large barn and fields.
The adolescent community will use the farm itself and the greater community of Gilbert as living textbooks and foundations for studies, work, and authentic community life.
This site and downloadable book (below) provides further details and information on this exciting adolescent program. As you read, we encourage you to consider a personal visit so that you can observe all the wonderful ways this community is learning and growing together.
The Upcoming Adolescent Program at Creo Farm
The adolescent program at Creo uses the farm and the surrounding town of Gilbert as primary examples of human interaction with nature and with one another in a society. These tangible places in which the students study and work reveal to them the interdependence of all people in a community and in the world, throughout time and space. Charting the history of humankind from its earliest beginnings, to the realization of the first villages and cities, to the "global village" of today's digital age, the adolescent program's community transforms into a microcosm of a society in which each adolescent may actively participate in the construction of self and community.
Within this community, the farm is viewed as an active and important member. Its land provides inspiration for rich learning experiences in the sciences, mathematics, language, humanities, and entrepreneurship. On the farm, these academic pursuits are integrated with hands-on, meaningful, and communal work that is so important to the healthy growth of adolescents. The connections to the larger community of Gilbert help to provide purpose, meaning, and real-world context for their work and studies. Experts, specialists, business owners, and city leaders provide immediate access to the larger society and economic structure of the world into which they are emerging.

At Creo, education reaches beyond the singular academic realm that has become the primary focus of conventional schools. So much more than textbooks, worksheets, and test-driven curriculum—Creo’s adolescent program provides real-world experience that is enhanced and curated specifically for the healthy development of the adolescent.
